Matthias Neukirch

Matthias Neukirch, born in 1963 in Aufsess, studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Engagements have taken him to the Theater Neumarkt in Zurich, the Staatstheater Kassel, the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Schauspiel Hannover. Here he appeared in productions by Jürgen Gosch, Nicolas Stemann, Christoph Frick, Wilfried Minks, Sebastian Nübling and Jossi Wieler, among others. From 2009 to 2015, Matthias Neukirch was a permanent cast member at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, where he appeared in the role of Mauler in Nicolas Stemann's production of Die heilige Johanna der Schlachthöfe and in Andreas Kriegenburg's production of Aus der Zeit fallen, as well as bringing the novel Wolf unter Wölfen to the stage with Roger Vontobel and playing Staller in Stallerhof with Frank Abt. Since the 2015/16 season, Matthias Neukirch has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, where his solo evening Hans Schleif (directed by Julian Klein), which was nominated for the Friedrich Luft Prize, was performed at the Kammer and will continue to be performed there.
