Kontext: Der Sturm

How is a play text created? Why are “classics” rewritten, reimagined, localised in the here and now? In our new discussion series Kontext, we look at current productions, theatre texts and their adaptation to the stage. In relation to William Shakespeare’s Der Sturm [The Tempest] in the production of Moved by the Motion, we will look at the depiction of ghosts in Shakespeare’s text and Sophia Al-Maria’s adaptation. How is a reference to current technology discourses and the question of intelligent algorithms created and formulated in this production of Shakespeare’s text?
