No sooner have Matteo and his father Aldo reached their destination than the village transforms into an eerie hinterland. The second part of Kay Matter's brand-new theatre series leads the two protagonists straight into the oppressive arms of the ‘nuns’, the gossip-addicted quasi-grandmothers. It's a good thing that at least Ernesto, the blind Chihuahua, never leaves Matteo's side. While Aldo tries to sell the Fiat, Matteo, pale with hunger for meat and men, takes to the streets.
Between bath foam and blood, between days and nights full of transformations, the village turns out to be a place where customs are displayed during the day and disappear into the small village pub at night. All this is repeatedly interrupted by the incessant ‘ping’ of gay dating apps. In this breathless rhythm, the ‘in-between’ is transformed into a space of encounter where, in the shadow of Catholicism, one learns the language of flirtation, drag and desire. And in the small family that emerges in the ‘in-between’, the fear of change mixes with the fear of being abandoned. It tips over into accusations... while the monster lurks.
