
Jchj V Dussel studied Fine Arts, Writing, and Performance at the Braunschweig University of Art and Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, as well as Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences at Humboldt University in Berlin. Jchj works as a writer, performer, and director—at municipal theatres and within the independent scene, solo and in collectives—focusing on queerness, climate, and class. Past works have taken him to venues such as Theater Osnabrück, Schauspiel Hannover, Maxim Gorki Theater, and Junges Theater Heidelberg.
In 2022, their text DARK ROOM revisited was selected for the Heidelberger Stückemarkt (Netzmarkt), and Drei Frauen was shortlisted for the Theatertreffen of the Berliner Festspiele. Jchj’s debut novel Aus dem schlafenden Vulkan ausbrechen was published by Luftschacht Verlag. In 2023, Jchj wrote and produced the queer climate musical Faggot For Future, which—under Jchj’s direction—was awarded Best Feature Film and Best Editing at the Berlin Indie Film Festival. In 2024, they adapted Kim de l’Horizon's Blutbuch for the stage at Theater am Werk in Vienna. In 2025, Jchj’s text MenschenversTand will be staged at the Staatstheater Nürnberg as part of a multi-author production.
