Lothar Baumgarte was lighting master in Eisleben, Senftenberg, Erfurt, at the Deutsches Theater and Schillertheater Berlin and has been a freelance lighting designer since 1986. From 1992 to 2017, he worked regularly at the Berlin Volksbühne, in particular for productions by Frank Castorf. Works for opera and theater in Stuttgart, Mannheim, Berlin, Leipzig, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Barcelona, Paris, Stockholm, Oslo. He has worked with Sebastian Hartmann for many years.
