Katja Brunner, a brilliant wordsmith and one of Switzerland’s most successful contemporary playwrights, returns to the Schauspielhaus for the premiere of her new book DIE KUNST DER WUNDE (The Art of the Wound). Together with artists working at the intersection of music, video and literature, as well as investigative journalists, she reflects on collective memory and political responsibility: Whose vulnerability is precious, whose vulnerability counts (or does not count)? What is the tension between the individual and the state’s power to standardise? Can literary art even counteract the decline of democracy?
