The Schauspielhaus Zürich aims to be accessible to as many people as possible. We therefore work continuously to make our program, communication channels, and infrastructure low-barrier. Below you will find all current information and offerings regarding our accessibility. Our website and social media presence are also checked for accessibility and further developed on the basis of standardized guidelines. On our path to bringing the Schauspielhaus Zürich closer to overall and long-term accessibility, it is of great concern to us to work closely with self-representing experts in the field of arts and culture.

Surtitles
For our multilingual and international audience, all expats and visitors to Zurich from all over the world, the Schauspielhaus Zürich offers a special service: selected performances in the Pfauen, the Schiffbau Halle and the Schiffbau Box are shown with English surtitles. In addition, introductions in English are offered at selected performances with surtitles. Performances with English surtitles and introductions in English are marked in our monthly programme and can also be found online.
Hearing aids
Peacocks (excluding chamber) and shipbuilding (excluding matchbox) are equipped with an amplification system. The hearing loops (with or without induction loop) can be individually adjusted and can be borrowed free of charge at the book table.
Audio description
Audio descriptions (live or pre-recorded) make performances accessible to blind and visually impaired people. They describe what is happening on stage and visual elements (such as costumes, stage design, props, but also movements, gestures and facial expressions).
Information: The Schauspielhaus Zürich is currently working on setting up the audio description service. Information on productions with audio description, registration processes, etc. will be available on our website shortly.
Wheelchair spaces
You are welcome to book a seat at a standard price of CHF 20. The person accompanying you is entitled to a 50% discount on their ticket. Please contact the theatre box office to book.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs have a right of access to the theatre. We are happy to book an appropriate seat for you. Please contact the theatre box office to book.
Parking space for people with disabilities
There are disabled parking spaces available in the Parkhaus Hohe Promenade (Pfauen), on Rämistrasse 38, 8001 Zurich and in the Schiffbau underground car park, Giessereistrasse, 8005 Zurich (access via Turbinenplatz).
Age recommendations
Many of our productions are also aimed at young audiences. Productions without an explicit age recommendation can, of course, also be attended by younger people. Productions that deal with difficult or serious themes, which may be unsuitable for younger people, are labelled with a content note and (in some cases) an appropriate age recommendation.
Content Note
Being aware that certain topics may trigger negative emotions, or appear disturbing and/or hurtful to some of our visitors, we label specific productions whose content we consider sensitive or potentially burdensome with the term «Content Note», without revealing the plot in advance.
Sensory notes
Our productions sometimes contain very loud noises, smoke, fog and/or strobe lights. This can lead to unpleasant (physical) reactions for some audience members and make the theatre experience more difficult, especially if they are not informed about it beforehand. Productions that contain (strong) sensory stimuli are provided with a sensory note. Example: "This production contains smoke, fog and strobes".
