Ruedi Häusermann studied economics and music and developed a passion for jazz and improvisation at an early age. He was a member of various contemporary ensembles and began composing string and piano quartets for his theatre work in the 1990s. His productions and compositions have been performed at the Vienna Festival, the Burgtheater Vienna, the Ängelrain-Turnhalle Lenzburg, the Stuttgart State Opera and the Hanover State Theatre, among others. Now he is returning to the Schauspielhaus Zurich. In his work, Häusermann creates his own unique musical-theatrical language, for which he has been awarded the Swiss Theatre Prize, among other honours.
