Tarun Kade

Tarun Kade, born in Munich in 1984, is a dramaturge and curator. He studied theater studies, philosophy and English literature in Munich and Bristol. From 2009-2020, he worked as a permanent dramaturge at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, Theater Bremen and the Münchner Kammerspiele. He was head of dramaturgy there in 2019 and 2020. In both of these years, the Münchner Kammerspiele was voted «Theater of the Year» in the Theater Heute critics' survey (artistic director: Matthias Lilienthal). He has worked with directors including Toshiki Okada, Leonie Böhm, René Pollesch, Trajal Harrell, Felix Rothenhäusler and Alexander Giesche. In recent years, Tarun Kade was program dramaturge and part of the dramaturgy management collective at the Wiener Festwochen and in this function was responsible for two invitations by Satoko Ichihara to Vienna. In 2024 he was curatorial director of the five-month international art and culture festival Tangente St. Pölten - Festival for Contemporary Culture. He also regularly teaches and mentors at colleges and universities and serves on juries. From the 2026/27 season, Tarun Kade will be head dramaturge at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.
