Eva Veronica Born

Eva Veronica Born studied architecture at the University of the Arts Berlin. Since graduating, she has worked as a freelance scenographer in German-speaking and international theatre and cultural contexts. At the crossroads where the urban, theatrical and museal realms converge, she creates objects, spaces, processes and artistic interventions for a variety of theatres, museums and festivals, including the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Wiener Festwochen, the Ruhrtriennale, the Volksbühne Berlin, the Martin Gropius Bau Berlin, the Humboldt Forum Berlin, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, and documenta fifteen. In collaboration with the Berliner Festspiele, documenta fifteen and Materialinitiativen, she launched the ‘Theatre/Material/Recycling’ project, which explores sustainable material cycles in theatres from an artistic standpoint.

Having been invited twice to the Theatertreffen in Berlin as a stage designer, she went on to become part of the festival team as a scenographer for many years, designing the festival campus and the official awards for the Theatertreffen at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele every year. Since 2022, Eva Veronica Born has been teaching on the Stage Design – Scenic Space Master’s programme at TU Berlin.
