In addition to his practice as a visual artist, Oron is internationally renowned as a DJ, known from battles, club nights, concerts, and radio shows. He has launched successful party series and hosted his own show on Swiss Radio SRF.

Janiv Oron works with various audio-visual media and often collaborates with other artists and practitioners. This actively transdisciplinary approach enables the exploration of a wide range of forms and artistic fields, such as sound and soundscapes, dance and performance, literature, video, and installation. With an extensive background in music and as a DJ, Oron describes his practice as transforming inspirations directly into “instruments”— inspirations that range from subculture and counterculture to DIY electronics and paranormal technologies. The modification and alteration of found or pre-existing elements, such as loudspeakers, is a recurring aspect of his work. These custom speakers, used to playback a mixture of pre-recorded and live-feed audio, react to and animate the acoustics of a space. They not only serve their functional purpose but also become sculptural objects in their own right. For Oron, sound is not just an auditory experience but also a visual one. He regards sound as a virtual visual tool capable of creating vast imaginary spaces within the mind. Through this synesthetic understanding, sound acts as a catalyst for vivid mental imagery and opens up limitless possibilities for the imagination to wander and explore.
