Nina Rühmeier studied Theatre Studies, Modern History and Modern German Literature at the Free University of Berlin and the Université de Paris VIII, Vincennes-Saint-Denis. From 2006 to 2011, she was initially employed as an assistant dramaturg and then as a dramaturg at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin (directed by Armin Petras). There she worked with directors Antú Romero Nunes, Armin Petras, Jan Neumann, Frank Abt, Nora Schlocker and Simon Solberg, among others, and devised various themed weekends and the comic theatre festival REALITY KILLS. She then worked as a freelance dramaturge at the Schauspielhaus Zürich and for the theatre collective Franz von Strolchen, among others. This was followed by a permanent position at Schauspiel Köln (director Stefan Bachmann) from 2013 to 2018, where, in addition to numerous productions - including with directors Pınar Karabulut, Robert Borgmann, Rafael Sanchez and Stefan Bachmann as well as Simon Solberg and Jan Neumann - she also supervised the WERKSTÜCKE series and co-directed the STUDIO KÖLN at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theatre in Leipzig in the 2016/2017 season. From 2018 to 2025, Nina Rühmeier worked again as a freelance dramaturge at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, Staatstheater Augsburg, Theater Bremen and Hans Otto Theater Potsdam, among others. She has also published radio features and magazine articles. She is a founding member of the Cologne artists' collective *POLAR PUBLIK and has repeatedly returned to Schauspiel Köln as a guest dramaturge. Most recently, she worked there with the directors Lionel Somé and Yael Ronen. Nina Rühmeier has been a dramaturge at Schauspielhaus Zürich since the 2025/26 season.
