It is thanks to Ferdinand and Marianne Rieser that their privately run Pfauentheater became a home in exile for artists persecuted by National Socialism from 1926 onwards. How and where do endangered theatre makers work today?

Actor Matthias Neukirch impressively brings the far-sighted, courageous work of the Rieser management to life using archival letters, texts and documents. Experts will discuss how theatre can function as a safe space today together with artists who live in Switzerland as "artists-at-risk". The video “Khattaba – on the politics of marriage 1.2” by Aws-Al-Zubaidy/Donya Speaks will be shown as an example. To round the evening off, we will celebrate theatre as a place of courage and refuge – with music and a surprise.
