PRINCIPAL PARTNERS:

Season 2026/27

Dear audience

The second season under the joint artistic direction of Pınar Karabulut and Rafael Sanchez is about to begin.

This new season marks a historic anniversary: 100 years ago, the theatre’s then director, Ferdinand Rieser, reopened the Pfauen-Theatre following extensive renovations, thereby giving Zurich its own modern theatre dedicated to spoken drama.

We celebrate this milestone with a programme that delves into the past, engages with it in dialogue, and builds on it. Familiar titles are reimagined for the stage, alongside works that explore different linguistic traditions and embrace linguistic diversity. The season brings theatre forms from around the world, including a dance production from France – long anticipated by the arts scene and premiered by us as proud co-producers. Furthermore, you can look forward to a family-friendly production that is best experienced with an open heart. And a crime thriller that is tailor-made for the Palazzo Salina. Following the vacuum cleaner and washing machine in the first season, the second features a garden tool that is highly controversial in Zurich. You will see that the ghosts and spectres of the Schauspielhaus are not confined to the Pfauen. They also haunt the Schiffbau and extend far beyond, into the traditions and rituals of theatre itself.

Discover the full programme below, including revivals and series that carry us through the entire season, delving into the realms of art, politics, literature and entertainment. Starting today, secure your seats in advance for all premieres taking place up to the end of the year.

We look forward to the coming season with you.

Sincerely,
Your Schauspielhaus Zürich

P.S. From today, you can choose the subscription that suits you best. How about the new ‘Sixpack’ subscription, perfect for gifting, sharing, or enjoying yourself? Furthermore, you can now see which productions are included in the ‘Festplatz’ subscription in advance under Subscriptions.
