1 hour 35 minutes (no interval)

An actress, a banker, an Italian migrant worker, a drug addict, a woman suffering from depression – they all inhabit a dementia ward, and dementia inhabits them. They remember their lives only in fragments. Yet their stories deserve to be told. The residents’ biographies reflect different facets of the human condition, despite – or perhaps precisely because – dementia has stripped them back to the bare essence of their personalities.

In Sostmann’s production, human performers interact with puppets, bringing the portraits of the residents to life as caregivers, family members and friends. The care room thus becomes a microcosm of the world: Who are we, and what remains of us when we forget ourselves?
