«I’m not letting the decline of society rain on my parade. I want this life. Hot!»

At Heartship, the bar, on stage, Ann sees Sara for the first time. The last Thursday of every month, Sara performs her feminist stand-up set there. Laughs, screams, rebels. Ann is an ophthalmologist. Both are around 40, get through their days of wage labor, the pretense of self-optimization, and the hope, despite the rollercoaster, to be able to live meaningfully and well. With sensitivity and absurd humor, Caren Jeß’s new piece portrays the friendship forming between them, or a great romantic love (At what point is this decided? Is there a word for every relationship?).

This premiere’s multiple award-winning author (Theater heute Young Playwright of the Year and the 2023 Mülheimer Dramatikpreis) is known for her original, highly musical plays that examine social relations from uncommon angles.
