Helen Stein and Magdalena Schön first met in 2013 while studying for a degree in Costume Design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, under the supervision of Reinhard von der Thannen. Since the beginning of their studies, they have been creating stage and costume designs together under the name AG ST/OEN.
To date, they have collaborated with directors including Leonie Böhm, Antú Romero Nunes, Jörg Pohl, Jens Rachut, Franziska Autzen and Robert Borgmann to bring their creations to life. Set and costume designs by AG ST/OEN have been, and continue to be, featured at various venues including the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Burgtheater Wien, Kampnagel Hamburg, Theater Bremen, Theater Basel, Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, Maxim Gorki Theater, Berliner Ensemble, and Ruhrfestspiele.
International productions have taken them to the DRAMATEN in Stockholm, as well as to Mexico and the Santiago a Mil Festival in Chile.
In 2021, “Medea” (directed by Leonie Böhm), for which AG ST/OEN designed the costumes, was invited to the Theatertreffen in Berlin.
In the 2026/27 season, they will return to the Schauspielhaus Zürich as costume designers for the production of DER KLEINE PRINZ.
