Johanna Stenzel

Johanna Stenzel was born in Dresden in 1989. From 2012 to 2019, she studied set and costume design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and has been working as a freelance set and costume designer ever since. Her work can be seen at venues including the Residenztheater in Munich, the Schauspiel Leipzig, the Volksbühne Berlin and the Rome Opera. She collaborates regularly with the directors Wilke Weermann, Elsa-Sophie Jach, Pınar Karabulut and Nuran David Calis.

In the 2026/2027 season, she will be responsible for the costume design in Elsa Sophie Jach’s production of MARIA STUART at the Schauspielhaus Zürich.
