Adrian Figueroa is a German theatre director and filmmaker. He has worked at numerous renowned theatres, including the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Schauspiel Hannover, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, and the HAU Hebbel am Ufer.
His productions have earned numerous award nominations, including for the Friedrich Luft Prize. He has also been invited to the Radikal Jung Festival at the Münchner Volkstheater on two occasions.
Figueroa’s short films have been screened at over 60 international festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, London and Oberhausen, winning numerous awards in the process. With “Proll!”, he won the Golden Lola, the German Camera Award and the German Competition in Oberhausen. The film also qualified for the shortlist for the 95th Academy Awards® in the category “Live Action Short Film”.
He has also served on the jury at the Istanbul Film Festival, received a fellowship from the Tarabya Cultural Academy, and was selected for Berlinale Talents in 2021. DER SANDMANN marks Figueroa’s directorial debut at the Schauspielhaus Zürich.
