Hildur Guðnadóttir

Hildur Guðnadóttir is an Academy Award-winning Icelandic composer, cellist and singer whose work encompasses contemporary music, experimental sound and film scoring. In her solo projects, she pushes the boundaries of the cello’s expressive potential, crafting compositions that range from intimate simplicity to expansive soundscapes.

Hildur Guðnadóttir is internationally acclaimed for her work in film and television. She has composed scores for “Joker”, “Chernobyl”, “Sicario: Day of the Soldado”, “Mary Magdalene”, and the Icelandic series “Trapped”. She has won some of the industry’s highest honours for her work, including Academy, Golden Globe, Emmy and Grammy awards.

In addition to her work on screen, Hildur Guðnadóttir has released four critically acclaimed solo albums and composed music for theatre, dance and orchestral projects. In the 2026/27 season, she will collaborate with Gisèle Vienne at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, composing the music for ARCHIVES OF FEELINGS.
