Till Wiebel works as a dramaturg, writer and director with and for young people. He studied ‘Performing Arts’ and ‘Staging of the Arts and Media’ at the University of Hildesheim and, as a visiting student, directing at the Zurich University of the Arts. Till Wiebel has been working at the Junges Schauspielhaus Hamburg since the 2021/2022 season. He also teaches regularly as a lecturer at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre.
Even whilst still a student, he developed productions in various constellations that were invited to various festivals such as the Körber Studio Junge Regie (Thalia Theatre, Hamburg), the Festival International du Théâtre Universitaire (Casablanca) and the Festival of International Student Theatre (Belgrade). His productions with young people were invited to both the Theatre and Dance Festival for Young People at the Berliner Festspiele and were staged at the Hart am Wind Festival and the Augenblick Mal! Festival. He was awarded the 2021 Retzhofer Drama Prize for his play FUNKEN. This was followed by commissioned works for the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Theater Konstanz, the Junge Ensemble Stuttgart and various other theatres in Germany and Austria.
With HANS IM GLÜCK, Till Wiebel will be writing and directing for the Schauspielhaus Zürich for the first time in the 2026/27 season.
