Victoria Xiang-Rui Ruhe (born 1995 in Bremen) is a director, screenwriter, and video artist. Her works, such as the 'Truly Gives Me Nothing Trilogy' (2018) and the short film 'Red Wall Fiction' (2024), explore diasporic memory within the context of Chinese migration in Germany. For Ruhe, looking beyond Western narrative canons and conventions is a fundamental part of her work. She draws strong inspiration from East Asian cinema—such as martial arts films and arthouse cinema from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and China—and translates these influences into contemporary post-migrant and queer culture.
She is currently studying directing and screenwriting at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM). Her debut film, ‘FIVE TIMES A FORTUNE’, an all-female-cast kung fu drama, is currently in post-production and will premiere in 2027.
