Anta Helena Recke, Maxi Menja Lehmann and Anna Froelicher shape space, time and language into sensual and at the same time political images on stage. They met in 2012 at the Hildesheim Theatre Institute, where they grappled with Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness during a practical project. Since then, as a directing trio, they have been developing a form of theatre related to the visual arts, which uses formal settings to draw attention to the mechanisms of one's own perception. Their joint works (e.g. DIE KRÄNKUNGEN DER MENSCHHEIT 2019) are characterised by the detailed reframing and re-examination of seemingly universal themes and stories.
