Judith Selenko was born in Graz. After training in graphic and communication design, she studied stage design in Graz and Stuttgart. While still a student, she worked as a stage design assistant at the Graz Opera, the Stuttgart State Opera and the Salzburg Festival. It was at the latter that she discovered her fascination for video art.
This was followed by postgraduate studies in digital art compositing at the Vienna Film Academy and work on various film productions. Judith Selenko works as a video and projection artist for numerous opera and (music) theatre productions, festivals, concerts and installations. New media and digital scenography, as well as the connection between art and technology, but also analogue and digital art, always play an important role in her work.
Engagements have taken her to the Berlin State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Bregenz Festival, the Mainz State Theatre, the Mannheim National Theatre, the Musiktheater im Revier, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival and the Alberta Ballet in Calgary and Edmonton (Canada).
In the field of contemporary music, her works have been shown at the Steirischer Herbst and the Ö1 Musikprotokoll. Work in the field of video mapping and video installation has taken her to the Lehár Villa in Bad Ischl, the Schlosslichtspiele Karlsruhe in collaboration with the ZKM, the Museumsquartier Vienna, the Lichtfest Leipzig and the Museo Teatrale Alla Scala in Milan.
