Dîlan Z. Çapan

Dîlan Z. Çapan is an author and director whose work focuses in particular on gaps, the limits of what can be said, and the power and violence of language and historiography. In doing so, she develops narrative styles that reveal and consciously employ the potential for resistance inherent in language and visual forms of expression. Her literary and artistic practice ranges from scenic-essayistic poetry and drama and their staging in theatre and exhibition spaces to filmic works and performative formats. The connecting and central elements of her interdisciplinary work are music, rhythm, and the musicality of language and image sequences. She also directs classical theatre productions, music videos and short films. She has staged productions at the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Staatsschauspiel Hannover, among others. In 2019, she was a scholarship holder at the Theatertreffen Berlin and in 2022/23 she will be part of the scholarship programme of the ‘Drama Forum’ at uniT Graz. She lives and works in Berlin.
