Adrien Michel studied saxophone at the Academy of Music in Lille, France, and subsequently graduated in sound engineering from the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) in Belgium. He is active as a musician in various ensembles and works as a sound engineer at the Opéra de Lille. Due to his background in both music and sound engineering, he has developed a unique approach characterized by creating sound installations and composing music for documentaries.
Through his sensitivity and creative use of sound, he has been collaborating with the choreographer and artist Gisèle Vienne for over ten years. He designed the sound for her productions "Crowd," "L'Étang," and EXTRA LIFE, in which sound plays a central dramaturgical role. These pieces have been performed on the world's most prestigious stages.
Adrien Michel is responsible for the sound design of Gisèle Vienne's new production ARCHIVES OF FEELINGS, which will premiere at the Schauspielhaus Zürich in December 2026.
