Ji Hyung Nam

Ji Hyung Nam, born in 1989, is a stage, costume and set designer. After studying interior design in Seoul, South Korea, she completed a degree in stage and costume design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich as a master student under Prof. Katrin Brack. She then honed her skills for three years as a stage and costume designer and assistant set designer at the Münchner Kammerspiele.

In 2017, she received the «Best Production Design Award» at the Melbourne Webfest for her set design for the German comedy series Technically Single. The following year, her project Eva, Adam and Pear was awarded the «START-UP Young Artist» prize by the European Patent Office. Further engagements as a set designer in the theater followed, among others at Münchner Kammerspiele, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Schauspiel Köln, Staatsschauspielhaus Dresden, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Lange Nacht der Neuen Dramatik in Munich, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and OUTNOW! Festival at Theater Bremen. In 2024/2025 she is a resident artist in Hamburg-Dulsberg. In the 2025/26 season, Ji Hyung Nam will work as a costume designer for the production (WHAT YOU’LL FIND) ON THE WAY TO BECOMING (director: Ta-Nia) for the first time at Schauspielhaus Zürich.
