After studying in Buenos Aires, Rike Maerten has been working as a freelance dramaturge and production manager in the performing arts in Hamburg since 2021, including at Kampnagel. After two years as a permanent member of the dramaturgy team at a private theatre in Hamburg, she particularly appreciates the intensive examination of content and the focus on relevant socio-political issues and perspectives beyond the Eurocentric, white majority society in independent productions. Social justice, anti-racism, intersectional feminism and memory culture are among the themes of the works she is involved in and which occupy her. Recent dramaturgical activities: ‘Am Ende der Revolution’ (Villa Salomon, 2023), ‘Imagine Freedom’ (Elbphilharmonie, 2024), ‘Opera of Hope’ (Kampnagel, 2025).
