Yuni Hwang, born in 1992, lives and works as a stage designer in Berlin. She studied stage design with Johannes Schütz and Lena Newton at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and realized her first works for theater and performance projects at the Prinz Regent Theater Bochum and the Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, among others. After graduating, she was employed as a permanent stage design assistant at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, where she created further stage designs of her own. She has worked closely and continuously with director Ruth Mensah, for example on Mensah's production of Unser Deutschlandmärchen at Theater Münster and Der Keim at Theater Bremen. She has also created stage and costume designs for productions by Christiane Lehmann, Claudia Bossard and Katharina Bill. Her engagements to date have taken her to Theater Münster, Stadttheater Gießen, Münchner Volkstheater, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Theater Bremen, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Schauspiel Essen and many more.
In the 2025/26 season, she will be supporting the stage designer Romy Springsguth on the stage design for the production GRAF ÖDERLAND at Schauspielhaus Zurich.
