Mehmet Sözer is from Vienna and has lived in Berlin since completing his studies at the HfS Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, with a five-year break in Munich, where he worked at the Münchner Volkstheater and the Münchner Kammerspiele. He knows Pınar Karabulut from Munich, where they rehearsed LIKE LOVERS DO and DAS ERBE together in 2021 and 2022. Today, Mehmet lives in Berlin and does a number of things alongside, with and through acting, and is delighted to be working in Zurich for the first time.
In addition to leading roles in film and television (alongside Maria Furtwängler in Das Wetter in geschlossenen Räumen; in Der Gast by Houchang Allahyari; in Tatort Wien alongside Harald Krassnitzer), Mehmet Sözer is also involved in labour politics. In 2016, his essay ‘Was tun?’ (What to do?) on the situation of young actors was published in Theater der Zeit magazine, and he gave one of the opening speeches at the founding of the actors' initiative ensemble netzwerk.
