Matyas Gödrös, born in Budapest in 1937, fled to Switzerland as a political refugee because of his participation in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. There he studied dentistry and appeared as an extra at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. After opening his own practice in Zurich in 1966, he surprised the public in 1976 as the author of a film about the situation of Hungarian refugees in Switzerland. He then spent about ten years making documentary films and reports for Swiss television. His attempt at film production ended unsuccessfully, so to the delight of his patients, he picked up his drill again and worked as a dentist until 1975. Today, he lives as a pensioner in Zurich and is appearing again at the Schauspielhaus Zürich in BLÖSCH, the opening production of the 2025/26 season.
