Born in Bolzano (I), grew up in a Ladin mountain valley in the Dolomites. Works as a cellist, composer and performer. She is active as a chamber and orchestral musician in international ensembles, including the Basel Chamber Orchestra. Mara composes and plays for dance productions and works as a performer in the theatre (Theater Basel, Residenztheater Munich, Staatsoper Berlin). She has a long-standing collaboration with director Thom Luz, whose productions have been performed at the Berlin Theatertreffen, the Kammerspiele Munich, the Biennale Venezia, the Kampnagel Festival Hamburg, Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, NET Festival Moscow, GIFT Festival Tbilisi, among others. Mara sings in the TRËI ensemble in concert projects and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her solo project ‘Sad Songs for a Crocodile’ is a collection of troubador pop songs for cello, voice and looper. She lives as a freelance artist in Basel.
