Born and bred in the midst of the beautiful Italian Alps. A curious and eclectic artist, Mara composes music for dance productions and frequently performs in theatres (Theater Basel, Residenztheater München, Staatsoper Berlin etc). She is a regular performer in productions by Swiss director Thom Luz, touring internationally to festivals and venues including the Berliner Theatertreffen, Münchner Kammerspiele, Biennale di Venezia, Kampnagel Hamburg, Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, Printemps des Comédiens Montpellier, NET Festival Moscow, Schauspielhaus Zürich, GIFT Festival Tbilisi, and the Athens Festival. As a cellist Mara plays in baroque ensembles and in international orchestras including Geneva Camerata, Kammerorchester Basel.
Alongside her work as a performer, Mara creates and performs her own music in a variety of projects. In the vocal trio TRËI, she sings folk music from different cultures. Divers Ashore, a duo with pianist Luckas Rickli, is a radical musical playground where free improvisation meets repertoire ranging from Monteverdi to Billie Eilish. Sad Songs for Crocodile is a collection of troubadour-inspired pop songs for cello, voice, and looper. In her current solo project, lujanta, Mara sings in her native language, Ladin, a Rhaeto-Romance minority language spoken in the Italian Dolomites. Mara Miribung is based in Basel, Switzerland.
