
Lioba Lea Bangert, born in Berlin in 1995, studied architecture and graduated with an MA from Berlin University of the Arts and the Glasgow School of Art – Mackintosh School of Architecture. During this time, she worked for Staab Architekten, wrote for Protocol – Magazine für Architektur im Kontext, and was a tutor at Prof. Michael Bollé's Chair of Architectural History and Theory at Berlin University of the Arts. She created her first works as a stage and costume designer while studying architecture, including at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Chemnitz Theatre. As artistic stage collaborator, she worked with Eva Veronica Born on an interdisciplinary production by the Chinese theatre collective Paper Tiger Theatre Studio, directed by Tian Gebing, which was shortlisted for the 2024 Berlin Festival Theatre Meeting. In the 2023/24 season, she repeatedly assisted at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, and since the 2024/25 season she has been a permanent stage design assistant at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. In the 2024/25 season, she is designing the stage for the song recital ‘Lass uns 'n Wunder sein’ (Let's Be a Miracle) on the Pfauenbühne, the stage and costumes for ‘Das weiße Dorf’ (The White Village) as part of the Long Night of Assistants, and, as artistic director, the scenography for the “Schiffbaufest” at the opening of the season and "Ciao, Adieu, Danke" at the end of the season. She also designs stage sets for several diploma productions at the Zurich University of the Arts.
