Thomas Wodianka, born 1974 in Schrobenhausen, studied acting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. In 2000, he came to Zurich for the first time to become a member of Christoph Marthaler's ensemble at the Schauspielhaus, and where he worked with such directors as Meg Stuart, Falk Richter, and Stefan Pucher. Starting in 2004, he worked as a freelance performance artist with Simone Aughterlony at the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee. Under the direction of Christoph Marthaler, he acted in Faith Love Hope at the Vienna Festival in 2012 and in Universe, Incomplete at the Ruhrtriennale in 2018. In 2013, he became an ensemble member at Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, where he worked with such directors as Yael Ronen and Sebastian Baumgarten. Beginning in summer 2017, he returned to freelancing, working with Susanne Kennedy at the Volksbühne Berlin in Women In Trouble and in Coming Society as well as with Amir Reza Koohestani at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Ever since his stage debut with Die Falschen Grenzen (Stadthalle Schrobenhausen, 1995), Thomas has been seeking himself through dissection, and tries to be joyfully aware of the limitations of his vision.
