Patrick Karpiczenko, better known as Karpi, works at the intersection of satire and technology. Trained as a filmmaker at Zurich University of the Arts, he co-created, wrote and directed the SRF late-night show Deville – and eventually appeared in front of the camera himself. His satirical clip America First, Switzerland Second became the most-watched Swiss YouTube video in 2017. Since then, Karpiczenko has increasingly focused on generative artificial intelligence as an artistic tool. His AI-generated Heidi trailer (2023) and the disinformation piece Switzerland Is Fake for the Fotomuseum Winterthur (2025) have together achieved forty million views worldwide.
Karpiczenko lectures at universities on generative AI, is a sought-after keynote speaker at home and abroad, writes for Republik and produces formats for cinema, television and the internet with his company Apéro Film. He has a daughter, lives in Zurich and doesn't get enough sleep.
