Existential slide shows, musical interludes and MORE (!!)
WITH: Patrick Karpiczenko & guests

Firing up the electronic brain, hitting the data highway at full throttle, and stepping straight into the cybernetic ring: Man vs. Machine. And where else but the theater, where it’s crystal clear: only the performance counts! How does art hold up in the face of Artificial Intelligence? Which jobs can (and will!) AI take off our hands in the future, and how does that transform a society that primarily defines itself through work? Is it a creepy horror show or a liberating breakthrough?
Following an intense PowerPoint journey through the vast expanses of spectacular visions of the future as well as gruelling assessments of the current state of affairs, the visit by political star Jaqueline Badran heralds the more relaxed part of the evening: Dr Karpiczenko talks to the SP National Councillor and founder of Zeix AG about wage labour, solidarity with machines and the necessity of ‘unconditional basic intelligence’. To allow her a well-deserved cigarette break in between and to introduce us to one of the most ingenious inventions of the 20th century, a theremin takes centre stage. There-was?! The very first electronic musical instrument ever! Very few people in the world can master it – and even fewer put on such a brilliant performance with it as the transdisciplinary artist Sharon Chan.
Just before the premiere of MANIAC — Labatut’s acclaimed novel about the birth of AI — comedian and AI expert Patrick Karpiczenko turns Labor Day into the Night of the Machines.
