Meloe Gennai, born in Geneva, studied German language and literature, history and law. As a dramaturg, Meloe Gennai has been working for many years in the independent theatre scene in Switzerland and internationally.
Meloe Gennai publishes his own writing and is the author of two collections of poetry; the first was awarded the Robert Goffin Poetry Biennale Prize. As an editor, he has been responsible for two publications in collaboration with Luma Westbau, Cassandra Press (New York) and Edition Assemblage (Münster).
For his artistic work, Meloe Gennai has received the Premio Young Artists’ Award as well as grants from Pro Helvetia, the Istituto Svizzero and Migros Culture Percentage.
Meloe Gennai teaches on the ‘Postcolonial Perspectives’ minor at Zurich University of the Arts and has been a visiting lecturer at HEAD Geneva, the University of Nairobi and Northwestern University (Illinois). In addition to his artistic practice, he has also worked as a lawyer.
Since the 2025/26 season, Meloe Gennai has been a dramaturg at the Schauspielhaus Zürich.
