Anna Bauer composes for theatre and film. She completed a Master's degree in composition at the National Film and Television School in London. In theatre, she maintains long-standing collaborations with directors Antú Romero Nunes, Jette Steckel, and Johanna Witt—including at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Münchner Kammerspiele (among others, "Die Vaterlosen," directed by Jette Steckel and invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen 2024), the Berliner Ensemble, and the Dramaten in Stockholm. At Theater Basel, Anna Bauer worked with Antú Romero Nunes on the productions "Metamorphosen," "Die Krume Brot," "Hamlet," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen 2023). Furthermore, Anna Bauer writes music for television (including "Prange," "Festmachen") and cinema ("Heysel 85," "Ghost School," "Haven Of Hope"). Some of her works are screened and awarded internationally at festivals such as the London Film Festival, the Berlinale, and the Toronto Film Festival. Anna Bauer's compositions are characterized by folk, minimal music, the beauty of the unexpected, and the magical relationship between image and sound.
During the 2026/27 season, Anna Bauer will work at the Schauspielhaus Zürich for the second time following ALICE IM WUNDERLAND—once again collaborating with Romero Nunes—to compose the music for the family play DER KLEINE PRINZ.
