Benjamin Krieg, born in 1977, works as a freelance video/film artist and photographer in various collaborations within the performing and visual arts. He conceives and realizes video, photo, and sound installations in stage, performance, and other spaces, often in close exchange with other artists, researchers, and experts.
From 2006 to 2010, he was a member of the independent music theater collective "Oper Dynamo West" Berlin. Since 2010, he has maintained a continuous collaboration with the performance collective "She She Pop," touring with them through Europe, South America, and Asia. Following earlier works with Thomas Ostermeier, Yael Ronen, and Hakan Savaş Mican at the Schaubühne, the Gorki Theater, and Ballhaus Naunynstrasse Berlin, he has worked regularly in recent years with theater director and author Amir Reza Koohestani and video artist Phillip Hohenwarter at the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Theater Freiburg, and most recently in the independent international production "Blind Runner," which was shown at the "Under the Radar" festival in New York and the Venice Biennale, among others. He has also realized numerous productions with theater and film director Adrian Figueroa, taking him to the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and the Münchner Volkstheater.
DER SANDMANN is his sixth collaboration with Adrian Figueroa and his first at the Schauspielhaus Zürich.
