Eva-Maria Bauer, born in Kempten, completed her studies in stage design at the University of the Arts London, whilst also undertaking an additional degree in media arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She has designed numerous sets and costumes for Sebastian Nübling, Stefan Kaegi and Helgard Haug / Rimini Protokoll, Miloš Lolić, Yael Ronen, Felix Rothenhäusler, Christine Umpfenbach and Rafael Sanchez, among others. Her work in theatre has taken her to a wide range of renowned theatres, including Münchner Kammerspiele, Thalia Theater, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Maxim Gorki Theater, Salzburg Festival, Burgtheater Wien, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Schauspiel Köln, and Theater Basel. Evi Bauer’s work has been invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen on multiple occasions. She is a professor of set design at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. For the 2026/27 season, she will be joining the Schauspielhaus Zürich to design the set for Molière’s DER GEIZIGE, directed by Rafael Sanchez.
