
Cornelius Borgolte, born in 1966 in Wattenscheid, studied clarinet at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and subsequently worked as a clarinetist at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Since 2004, he has devoted himself intensively to composing music for theatre and has received commissions from, among others, the Bavarian State Theatre, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Schauspiel Basel, and Odyssee Theatre Los Angeles. He has collaborated with directors such as Karin Henkel, Tina Lanik, Daniela Löffner, Amélie Niermeyer, Jana Vetten, Robert Gerloff, and Anselm Weber. He has also composed radio play music for broadcasters including DLF, WDR, BR, and SWR. Cornelius Borgolte and Rafael Sanchez share a professional collaboration that has lasted over twenty years.
