He wanted to become a ghost – that's what writer Paul Auster told his wife Siri Hustvedt shortly before his death. And that's what he became for her. Since Auster succumbed to cancer in May 2025, Hustvedt continues to feel his presence – painful and comforting at the same time. With GHOST STORIES, Siri Hustvedt returns to the Schauspielhaus after 10 years.

Siri Hustvedt was born in 1955 in Northfield, Minnesota. She studied literature at Columbia University and earned her PhD with a thesis on Charles Dickens. To date, she has published seven novels. She achieved her international breakthrough with WHAT I LOVED. Her most recent publications include THE BLAZING WORLD and MEMORIES OF THE FUTURE. At the same time, she is a prominent essayist. Her essay collections published by Rowohlt include A PLEA FOR EROS, LIVING, THINKING, LOOKING, BEING A MAN, THE DELUSION OF CERTAINTY, and A WOMAN LOOKING AT MEN LOOKING AT WOMEN.
