Homer: Ilias

“But nobody, I tell you, has ever escaped death.”

The war between the Greeks and the Trojans has already been raging for ten years. This is the point at which Europe’s oldest written myth starts the story, which can certainly be understood as an anti-war epos. Robert Hunger-Bühler reads thrilling scenes of the Trojan War from “The Iliad” – using a new, award-winning translation by Kurt Steinmann. Punchy rhythms are provided by the internationally renowned percussionist Julian Sartorius.
