Born in 1952 in Möhlin/Basel. Studied acting at the Conservatory for Music and Drama in Bern. First engagement in Trier in 1974. Subsequent engagements at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, the Bremer Theater, the Schaubühne Berlin, the Schauspielhaus Zürich and the Thalia Theater Hamburg, among others. 1977, 1978 Actress of the Year Award. Regular work with directors Jürgen Flimm, Claus Peymann, Sven-Eric Bechtolf, Frank-Patrick Steckel and Katharina Thalbach, among others. In addition to her work on stage, numerous film and television roles, including from 2002-2012 in the ZDF crime series DAS DUO. From 2016-2022 she is part of the ensemble of the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel. 2022 Appointment as Bavarian State Actress. 2024 Armin Ziegler Prize.
