Kay Kysela

Kay Kysela, born in 1989 in Aarberg, grew up near Biel. After training to become a nurse, he studied acting at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern, during which he began to perform in guest roles, including in Patrick Gusset’s Othello, Philip Stölzl’s Frankenstein at Theater Basel, and at the Zurich Festival (Sturm in Patumbah, directed by Niklaus Helbling). His first position in an ensemble broughthim to St. Gallen, where he worked with directors such as Barbara-David Brüesch, Melanie Huber, Jenke Nordalm, Stefan Behrendt, Martin Pfaff, Philipp Heule, Anita Augustin, and Eike Hannemann. In addition to his work in the theatre, he regularly appears in film and television, including Tatort (Freitod), in the series Wilder and in the film Weglaufen geht nicht. Kay Kysela won the young talent award “Junge Talente” in 2014.
