Over the past two years, the enterspaces series, curated and hosted by Brandy Butler and Miriam Ibrahim, has presented various formats that have opened up new spaces for encounters in the safer space for BIPOC at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. Hoping to have created a ripple effect, it is likely that more spaces will follow. To conclude the enterspaces series of the first two seasons, we will open the festival with an aperitif and short opening speeches by Cantonal Councillor Mandy Abou Shoak, Agent for Diversity Dr phil. Yuvviki Dioh and other friends of enterspaces.

The Afro-German cosmopolitan, author, nutritionist, diversity trainer and mother Chantal-Fleur Sandjon has been invited to the Schauspielhaus Zürich with her novel Die Sonne, so strahlend und Schwarz. The verse novel tells the story of 17-year-old Nova Nyanyoh in Berlin, her first love, domestic violence, family cohesion, coming out as a lesbian, racism and friendship. It is a moving and poetic coming-of-age novel that allows us to bear the difficulties of life through its beauty and lightness.

At the intersection of stand-up comedy, performance, video art, dance and concert, Ntando Cele searches for identity and authenticity in the life stories of Black artists. The Return of La Argentina

Von und mit: Trajal Harrell

26 May 2024, Schiffbau-Box
More information here.

Antonia Mercé, alias La Argentina, was probably the most famous Spanish dancer of the 20th century. In the 1970s, 40 years after her death, the founders of Japanese Butoh, Kazuo Ohno and Tatsumi Hijikata, paid tribute to her with the piece Admiring La Argentina. Trajal Harrell's solo is a homage to La Argentina, to Ohno and Hijikata, and to the webs of history that lie beneath the present. enterspaces welcomes in-house director Trajal Harrell with this special work in the Box and invites you to a discussion afterwards.
